Oliver John-Rodgers is an up and coming singer-songwriter out of New York with a southern folk sound that calls to mind old-school Ryan Adams, early Josh Ritter, and Bright Eyes. It’s the kind of sound that you didn’t realize that you missed until it found it’s way back to your ears. Over the past year or so, OJR has been offering up a plethora of excellent smartly written folk and americana tracks on his Bandcamp page. Each release showcasing a wonderful writer growing and developing into something truly special. Here, is his cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel”, dialed back and played as a gorgeous, dreamy ballad. Oliver John-Rodgers is definitely someone to watch in the coming year. Highest recommendation.
